I reviewed Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez

One of my romance picks this April is Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez. The book is full of witty banter, swoony moments, and emotional like speed-eating a delicious sweet (can be messy) still pretty dang good.

Book Information

“A handsome veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny cat? Immediately yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing.”

I went into Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez with the kind of wild expectation usually reserved for rich, and destined to wreck me emotionally. And you know what? It almost did… but maybe not in the way I expected. Let’s break it down.

Say You’ll Remember Me – 4/5 Star⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Samantha and Xavier’s love story kicks off with a cat. Honestly, how anyone not be hooked right from there? Xavier’s a Greek-god-shaped veterinarian with the emotional depth of a cinnamon roll. Samantha’s a lovable, stressed-out ball of sarcasm. Adorable.

But it’s fast. Like, speed romance. One minute, they’re strangers; the next, they’re soulmates, baring their hearts over the phone like it’s therapy hour. I was looking for more tension—basically, more slow-burn stuff.

Still, it’s Abby Jimenez. It’s charming. It’s funny. It’s worth the read. But maybe take a deep breath before starting in.

Characters:

The main characters are:-

  • Samantha: A sarcastic, practical woman.
  • Xavier: A grumpy-on-the-outside, sweet-on-the-inside veterinarian.
  • Lisa (Samantha’s Mom): The family lady battling early dementia.
  • Samantha’s Sister: A fierce, single mom holding her family together. (adds humor too..)
  • Samantha’s Brother: An artsy, blunt, and straightforward guy who speaks directly.
  • Samantha’s Grandmother: Sweet, caring, and trying to hold everyone together.

Plot (Spoilers Free):

(Before starting:- This book, it felt like I was on a rollercoaster that kept giving jerks. Is this how it feels to have too many TikTok references? Because holy pop culture overload, Batman.)

So, we’ve got Samantha and Xavier, who meet through a cat with. Their meet-cute is awkward in the most delightful way, and Xavier—grumpy, Greek-god-shaped veterinarian.

But here’s the rub: It’s insta-love, and not the convincing kind. One date, and suddenly they’re having deep, emotional phone calls like a couple that’s been together for months? I get it, love can be fast, but could we at least hit the stop for a second to build some tension? Some longing?

And here’s the thing: Samantha’s got family drama. Xavier’s battling financial stress. And their relationship is somehow expected to blossom in the middle of all this chaos? Like, cool, we’re in love, but also—can we unpack the trauma before jumping to the eternal devotion part?

Abby does try to balance it all with her usual magic: emotional family moments, banter, and scenes that are supposed to make you cry (maybe)…. like, okay, the grandma’s trauma is sad, but did it have to be dropped into the story like an emotional anvil?

The characters have potential. Xavier is lovable. Samantha is relatable. But the connection between them sometimes feels more like an elevator pitch. It’s like Abby was trying to pack a ten-course meal into a microwave dinner. Tasty? Sure.

So, yeah, it’s a shaky ride. Overall I do like it and still, Abby’s talent for mixing humor and heartbreak keeps me intrigued. Would I recommend this one? Yes.

Final Verdict: Who should Read it?

  • Fans who loves romantic comedy ( one who likes laugh-out-loud story with emotions)
  • Those who love strong, relatable characters.
  • Anyone who enjoys Abby Jimenez stories.
  • Readers who like contemporary romance with a bit of an crying punch.
