Wild Side by Elsie Silver Book Review
Listen, I liked this book. A lot. Four and half stars to five worth of liked it. But did I want to strangle both Rhys and Tabitha at times? Absolutely.
Tabitha is all sharp edges and fiery independence, while Rhys is a grumpy, emotionally unbalanced pro wrestler who somehow becomes the perfect guardian to her nephew, Milo. Who knew a guy who body slams people for a living could be so soft? The tension? Thicker than my will to avoid emotional damage.
But, fair warning—this is a slow burn. Like, “screaming into a pillow” slow. And while the romance delivers, I wish we had a little more… oomph in certain emotional moments. Still, it’s swoony, heartfelt, and full of found family goodness. So, do I recommend it? Yes.

Detailed Synopsis Spoilers: Wild Side (Rose Hill #3)
Tabitha Garrison never imagined her wedding day like this. No white dress, no fairy-tale romance—just a courthouse, a contract, and the man she can’t stand sitting beside her, scowling like he’d rather be anywhere else.
But when her sister passes away, leaving behind her young son, Milo, Tabitha is ready to step in as his guardian. There’s just one problem: Rhys Dupris, the man she blames for her sister’s downward spiral, somehow ended up with custody instead. Excuse me? The grumpy, emotionally unavailable pro wrestler? The guy who can’t even commit to a house plant? Absolutely not.
But the universe (and Canadian immigration laws) have other plans. Since Rhys isn’t a citizen, if they don’t find a way to keep Milo in the country, he could be taken away from both of them. And what’s the most logical solution? Marriage, obviously. Because that always works out well, right?
Starting of Romance-
What starts as a reluctant arrangement quickly becomes something… messy. Tabitha is fire and fury, armed with cutting one-liners, an unwavering determination to win every argument, and a cat she only adopted to spite Rhys (because, of course, he’s “allergic”).
Rhys, on the other hand, is a walking wall of muscle, brooding silence, and emotional repression. But beneath that tough exterior? A man who’s been quietly, hopelessly obsessed with Tabitha for two years. (why are you just now mentioning this?)
As they navigate co-parenting Milo, the sharp edges between them start to soften. Rhys is unexpectedly…good with the kid. Like, “melting hearts” good. The bedtime stories, the quiet protective gestures, the way he looks at Milo like he’s the most important thing in his world—it’s enough to make Tabitha question everything she thought she knew about him.
Melting of Ice
And Rhys? He’s slowly unraveling under Tabitha’s relentless presence. She sees through the armor he’s spent years perfecting, past the gruff exterior to the man underneath—the one who’s spent his whole life believing he’s unworthy of love. Someone hand this man a therapy session and a hug.
Oh, and let’s not forget the tension. The “if-you-touch-me-I-will-actually-explode”. Because while they might have agreed on marriage in name only, their chemistry clearly didn’t get the memo. And when that tension finally snaps? Doors off the hinges.
But love and hate are two sides of the same coin, and the real question is—when all the dust settles, will they still be standing on opposite sides?
So, are you ready to fall in love with a broody wrestler and a feisty chef? Because trust me, Rhys and Tabitha are about to take you on a wild ride.
