Synopsis: Emily Giffin’s new book, “The Summer Pact,” is a emotional story about friendship, support, love and relationship after a tragedy. The story starts at the University of Virginia, where four freshmen—Lainey from California with the dream of acting. Tyson, a Black student having a dream to be a lawyer. Summer, a acadamic scholar and a pro athlete. And atlast Hannah, rebellious one against the norms met together and become close friends.
Their college lives take a devastating and sad turn just before graduation when Summer takes her own life. Her friends are devastated, she had left them with unanswered questions and sorrow. To cope this kind of situation, Lainey, Tyson, and Hannah make a pact that states they promise to always talk before making any kind of big decisions in life, a promise that will become their lifeline in the years ahead.
Many wierd situation arises in the story later as fast forward to their early thirties, when Hannah finds out her fiancé is cheating. Lainey, now making quite an impact in Hollywood, and Tyson, who quits his job to be there for his friends, rush to support Hannah. Together, they face heartbreak, struggles and betrayal, supporting other and setting the stage for a journey of healing and self-discovery.
Their shared pain leads them on a trip together. Each picks a dream spot, and they end up on the beautiful shores of Capri. Here, at places like the famous La Fontelina beach club, they confront their inner struggles and face moments that change their futures.
In “The Summer Pact,” Giffin tends to mix emotional drama and showing personal growth and enduring friendship.
