Book Review: The Blue Hour by Paula Hawkins

The story is told through three perspectives: Becker, Grace, and excerpts from Vanessa’s letters. This slow pace allows readers to explore the feelings of each character beautifully. Grace feeling of anger and betrayal towards Vanessa, while Becker admiration of her art, which reflects his own sadness.

The ending do have several twists but feels rushed. Some readers enjoyed the surprise, while others felt unsatisfied with the lack of closure. Overall, The Blue Hour reflect the story of obsession & betrayal. It points more on the character than the story for a fast-paced thriller.

Hawkins creates a strong sense of place that matches the characters’ emotional struggles. Although the story unfolds slowly, it helps readers understand the characters better. The ending has surprising twists, but some readers may wish for more closure. Overall, The Blue Hour is a slow but interesting read. It makes you think about art, love, and the shadows of the past.
