So just try to imagine this: you’re just out your full of chaos sort of past, moved into a silent cabin in the middle of nowhere, peaceful and alone, and are fully in mood to enjoy your solitude era.
She got the candles, canned soup, and a tree outside that looks one bad gust away from flattening you. That’s Casey’s life — quiet, alone, and surely you can question her life choices behind this.
Then a storm hits. The kind where the sky growls, the windows rattle, and you start wondering if this was the dumbest idea since dial-up internet. Casey’s is getting prepared if anything goes wrong when she saw something (or someone?) outside her window. Because obviously, that’s when you want to go outside, right?
She finds a little girl in her shed. Covered in blood. Holding a knife with her name on it.

Casey is living her best off-the-grid life in a lonely cabin in the middle of literally nowhere. She’s got all the things that are required, but a storm is coming her way, giving something is off sort- of vibes.
But the equation changes, when she saw a shadow outside her window. Is it a ghost? A figment of her imagination? Or something more sinister?
She goes outside the cabin & she finds a young girl—with blood stains, holding a knife, and her condition is very bad. Naturally, Casey invites her in. Because, who wouldn’t let a blood-soaked stranger into their home during a storm, right?

As the night unfolds, secrets start to unravel. The girl’s name is Ella, and her past is as dark (and obv. secretive) and troubled as Casey’s own. Other POV reveal Ella’s hard childhood, filled with pain and trauma. But what does this have to do with Casey?

The storm goes on, the tension starts to build, and Casey begins to just ask herself about her decision to let Ella in. Is the girl a victim? Or is she the predator? As the night passes, the lines in her mind starts to blur, and Casey thinks that she might be in over her head.
With McFadden’s signature twists and turns, The Intruder keeps you on the edge of your seat, questioning every character’s motives. It’s a psychological thriller that points out at themes of past, troubled childhood and love for dear ones.
