Ashley Poston delivers a heartfelt story that sings with emotion, music, and just a touch of magic. Joni and Sasha’s connection is both nice and real human—full of grief, healing, and soft, slow-burn. I swooned, I cried, I highlighted half the book.
Why only 4 star? The pacing in the middle seems a bit slow, and some characters (like Gigi and Mitchell) felt underdeveloped given their roles. Still, the emotional vibe and lyrical prose kept me hooked.
If grief is a love song in reverse, this book is the melody that plays after. 🎶💔 A story of music, memory, magic, and messy hearts—Sounds Like Love is for anyone who’s ever felt like they were losing everything… and somehow found themselves instead.

Joni Lark, a celebrated songwriter in L.A., she now finds herself creatively paralyzed, her pen as dry as her love life (which, to be fair, is basically the Sahara). And if that wasn’t enough, her mother—Wyn, a former firecracker with a voice like sunshine—is slowly being taken by early-onset dementia.
So when Joni returns to Vienna Shores, North Carolina, for what’s supposed to be a summer visit, she doesn’t expect a spiritual awakening—or a mysterious voice inside her head.

Yes, a literal voice. Cue Sasha: brooding musician, cinnamon roll with emotional baggage, and, oh yeah, a man who is also inexplicably sharing the same unfinished melody in his brain. (What??)

Then Sasha enters, with a bun, piercings, and that artisty kinda vibe that most of all would fall for. Together, they try to finish the song stuck in both their heads—but what they really do is start writing a love story.
