The Enchanted Greenhouse by Sarah Beth Durst
What happens when you get turned into a statue for making a magical spider plant out of loneliness, only to wake up in the snow with no idea how you got there?
If you’re Terlu Perna, you found yourself into a magical island full of dying greenhouses, roses with feelings, and a gardener who is rugged like a dream. Is this a punishment or a meet-cute?
“She drifted through life, wanting and reaching but never having, always feeling just a little lost and just a little empty and just a little lonely.”
Terlu is all awkward academic energy, overthinking everything (including whether kissing your magical coworker violates workplace protocol). Yarrow, the gardener, is so kind it’s suspicious—like, sir, why are you feeding a unknown woman an endless supply of honey cakes? What’s your agenda, and can I sign up?
The plot? Think cozy magical mystery with less weeding and more decoding ancient spell notebooks. The plants talk. A lot. Did I need five emotions in one conversation? Maybe not. But did they grow on me (pun 100% intended)? Absolutely.
While the romance had a few cliché stumbles (girl, he definitely likes you), the story then turns into something lovely—about healing, and finding yourself in a world that once turned you to stone.
Perfect for fans of coziness, enchantment, and introverts who talk to plants.

Spoilers:
So, Terlu gets turned into a statue (as one does) for daring to create a sentient spider plant—clearly the plant parent police were not messing around.
But centuries later, she wakes up on a mysterious snow-covered island with magical (and very cranky) greenhouses. There, she meets Yarrow, a broody gardener with a soft spot for grumbling and warm honey cakes.
Turns out, the greenhouses are dying—not because of some flashy villain, but thanks to a decaying guilt-laced spell left behind by a reclusive sorcerer, Laiken. His magic wasn’t evil, just messy and full of regret (relatable).

Terlu, ever the scholar, deciphers his old notes, rewrites the spells, and—oops—accidentally wakes up a chorus of snarky sentient plants. Along the way, Yarrow’s seals exterior cracks just enough for a slow-simmer romance to bloom. Who knew saving magic meant also healing hearts?
