The Woman in Suite 11 by Ruth Ware - book Review

The Woman in Suite 11 by Ruth Ware – Review | Summary |

The Woman in Suite 11 by Ruth Ware is a mystery thriller novel & the sequence of The Woman in Cabin 10. A cat and mouse race with thrilling touch.

Lo Blacklock can’t catch a break?

I jumped in, ready for another round of paranoia, secrets, and people trying to show murder isn’t happening on their luxury getaway.

And Ruth Ware delivers on the suspense. The pacing? Sharp. The twists? Well-timed. Lo? Older & lil wiser. The whole setup—glam Swiss hotel, familiar faces from the cruise-that-was-not-a-vacation, a mysterious invitation to Suite 11—it’s all the makings of a bingeable thriller.

But here’s where it lagged.

The atmosphere wasn’t quite chilling enough. I missed the trapped feeling that made Cabin 10 so intense. This one felt more like mystery tourism. Also, some plot felt…convenient. Like, sure, everyone just happens to be there? Again? And while I love a flawed protagonist, but Lo made choices that made me think, she has learned nothing?

Plus, the stakes didn’t feel as high this time. The tension was there, but the danger felt dialed down. Like Lo was solving a murder between hotel spa appointments.

All in all, it’s a good popcorn read—but i kinda feel not Ruth Ware’s best. Still, if you’re here for the drama, old and familiar faces, then surely, you’ll have a decent time.

Just…maybe don’t accept any mystery invitations to Suite 11. Again.

“The past doesn’t stay buried. It just waits—for the right moment to knock on your hotel door.”

Summary (Spoiler)—

Ten years after The Woman in Cabin 10, Lo’s a mom, trynna balance between journalism and life. When she’s invited to an exclusive hotel opening in Switzerland, her husband urges her to go. “It’ll be relaxing!” he says. (Spoiler: it won’t.)

Things start weird—an anonymous upgrade to first class? Familiar faces from the Aurora cruise? And then a note having a message: “Please come to Suite 11.” Cue the ominous music.

In that suite? Carrie, the not-so-dead ex-mistress from Cabin 10, who faked her death and is now begging Lo for help escaping her latest mess. Lo, queen of making chaotic choices, says yes.

They flee to England on the run from… something. That “something” turns out to be the murder of hotel mogul Marcus Leidmann—Carrie’s lover, who winds up dead right after their escape. Naturally, Lo becomes the prime suspect.

Now there’s evidence with secrets, weird photographers, and one dead billionaire. The final twist? Carrie’s been working with someonesurprise villain alert—who dies in dramatic fashion. Oh, and Carrie’s sleeping with the Interpol cop investigating the case. Because of course she is.

The ending? Lo walks free with hell lot of efforts, Carrie once again gone, and we all think: Lo should never accept another press invite again. For more suspense, you can hear its audiobook.
