Book Review: Great Big Beautiful Life
Emily Henry, you emotional wizard. This book had me laughing, dreaming, and mildly emotional all in one chapter.
Alice, our happy journalist, and Hayden, her rival, are both competing to write the biography of secret and controversial heiress Margaret Ives, who may be keeping some tragic secrets like they’re vintage Chanel. Spoiler: she is.
The romance? Nicely slow burn. The tension? Sizzling. The emotional part? …Good. Now, why did I snatch away that last and fifth star?
Because the pacing dragged in the middle like a soggy towel. There were moments I wanted to ask Margaret and yell, “Just say already, Grandma!” And while I like Alice, some of her inner monologues kinda a bit too long.
Still, the story is rich, the ending hits like a freight train of feelings, and the central message—about love, legacy, and who gets to tell your story—is hauntingly beautiful.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just bring patience and emotional support.
