Skyshade by Alex Aster (Lightlark #3) Spoilers

Synopsis: So, where are we? Isla starts off in Grim’s gloomy, yet somehow romantic, Nightshade castle, trying to make sense of her conveniently lost (and newly returned) memories. Surprise, surprise—she’s married to Grim! Yes, the infamous “shadow daddy” is her husband, and Isla’s not sure. Grim claims he doesn’t know how to love, but with the way he looks at Isla? Come on, Grim, who are you kidding?

But wait! Let’s not forget about the dashing Oro, the golden king she left behind in the last book. Now, what’s a girl to do when she’s in love with two men—one a brooding, shadowy lord and the other a gleaming, heartbroken king?

But Isla doesn’t have much time to agonize over her complicated love life. Because guess who’s back? A long-lost family member who’s got a serious grudge and… wait for it… an army of the undead! No big deal, right? And when Isla realizes this mysterious relative wants nothing more than to destabilize her life. How does it all fit in?

Just when you think things couldn’t get messier, Isla begins to embrace her darker side. Our heroine, who once wavered between doubts, now kicks it up a notch, wielding magic, facing undead armies, and claiming her role as a fierce defender. She’s no longer the hesitant girl we met in Nightbane—now she’s a badass who will do anything to protect her world (and, let’s be honest, her two heartthrobs).

And just when you think it’s all about to come together, BOOM—a cliffhanger! Isla is pulled into a mysterious portal leading to… somewhere new! Another universe? What fresh chaos awaits her there?

Is Skyshade by Alex Aster spicy?

Let’s just say it’s sizzling enough to keep you entertained, but also enough to leave you wanting more. There’s even a bonus spicy chapter for those of us who like a little extra steam! Grim and Oro both have their own unforgettable moments, and let’s face it: at this point, aren’t we all wondering if Isla’s heart will survive this tug-of-war?

Skyshade Book Review by Alex Aster

Skyshade is a wild, emotional ride that picks up right where Nightbane left off—plunging us back into the darkly romantic Nightshade castle with Isla, Grim, and, of course, the ever-complicated Oro. Isla’s memory is back, her love life is a mess , and a family member with an undead army is on the attack. Just a regular day in Lightlark, right?

The love triangle drama is in full swing. Why, Isla? Pick a man, already! But Grim’s love (shadow daddy vibes for days!) is heart-melting, while Oro’s golden-heartbreak just aches. Meanwhile, Isla’s growth into a fiercely independent heroine has me cheering, but honestly, I still can’t make sense of the magic system.

Then there’s that cliffhanger! A portal to a new world? More chaos, more romance? Bring it on! Skyshade delivers fantasy, romance, and enough twists to keep you begging for more.

Skyshade serves up romance and action. One question remains: will Isla finally make up her mind? Or will this series keep us all guessing till the very end? Either way, bring on the next book!
