Brynne Weaver did not come to play with this one. She came to break our hearts, patch them back up, and then set them on fire with Dr. Kane’s… ahem… skill set.
Meet Rose & Fionn
Rose Sinclair is a woman who takes no nonsense. Sharp, passionate, and fiercely protective of those she loves, she’s the kind of heroine you cheer for—especially when she smells trouble (and oh boy, does she know when something’s up).
Enter Fionn Kane, the third and final Kane brother, who is equal parts brilliant, brooding, and an absolute menace in the best ways. He’s got that “I’m calm, collected, and will absolutely ruin your life in the most pleasurable way possible” energy. And Rose? She is not immune. (Neither are we, to be honest.)
Unlike the previous two books, this book covers a longer time period, weaving through familiar events but from Rose and Fionn’s perspective. And yes, it is every bit as hilarious and chaotic as you’d expect. But don’t let the humor fool you—this book has its darker moments.
Rose Evans never planned to get stuck in some Nebraska town. But when you make a living defying gravity on a motorcycle, injuries are kind of an occupational hazard. So here she is—banged up, pissed off, and forced to rely on a grumpy, too-handsome-for-his-own-good doctor who looks like he’s allergic to fun.
Enter Fionn Kane. A man who traded chaos for calm, heartbreak for solitude. The last thing he needs is a reckless daredevil in his exam room, let alone in his life. But fate (and a whole lot of bad decisions) have other plans.
What happens when a woman who thrives on adrenaline meets a man desperate for quiet? Sparks. Fireworks. A whole lot of tension. And, inevitably, the kind of slow-burn, angst-ridden, oh no, there’s only one bed situation that makes you want to throw the book across the room in frustration (but in the best way).
Can Rose sit still long enough to heal?
The Darker Threads
While domestic abuse isn’t explicitly shown on the page, it is an underlying theme, and Rose? She knows. She feels it in her bones, and you can feel her fury radiating off the pages. If you weren’t already ready to throw hands on behalf of certain characters, Rose will make sure you are. And can we take a moment to appreciate the mention of Giulia Tofana and the history of Aqua Tofana? A woman ahead of her time. A true icon. Google her. You won’t regret it.
If there’s one thing this trilogy has done perfectly (aside from making us question our moral compasses when it comes to morally gray men), it’s the found family relationships. The Kane brothers would already go to war for each other, but adding Rose, Sloane, and Lark into the mix? Pure gold. And let’s not forget Winston, Bentley, and Barbara—the real MVPs of the series.

Brynne Weaver, you magnificent menace, why must you play with my emotions like this? One minute I’m laughing at Rose’s razor-sharp wit, the next I’m clutching my chest because Fionn Kane just said something utterly devastating (or, let’s be honest, utterly filthy).
This book felt darker than Butcher & Blackbird and Leather & Lark , tackling serious themes with raw intensity—but it still had that signature humor, sass, and chemistry. Rose and Fionn’s chemistry? Absolute perfection. She’s fire, he’s ice, and together? Inferno. Also, the found family aspect? Chef’s kiss.
So, why only four stars? The pacing dragged a tad in the middle, but honestly? Still obsessed. And those epilogues? We need to talk. Brynne, if you’re reading this, we are not done here.
